Robbed Twice — Kai on Delayed Truth and Betrayal
"I feel like I got robbed… twice. Once back then, and once right now." Jessica was battling postpartum depression — invisible, exhausted, barely holding on — when her husband quietly sold her mother's and grandmother's heirloom gold. She found out years later, when he brought it up casually, framed as a confession, expecting credit for finally being honest.
Kai names what the "honesty arc" really does: he gets to unburden himself, and she is forced to carry the weight. Delayed truth does not lessen the betrayal — it re-opens the wound on a fresh day, in a fresh body, with fresh compounded interest. Healing means honoring the part of you that was robbed back then, and protecting the part of you sitting here today.
